General Information

The main campus of the Foreign Languages Department of Samsun University is located at Canik District. The compulsory or optional English Preparatory courses of the faculties and the common English Preparatory courses for all the faculties, institutes,and  vocational schools where English is not compulsory (5i) and Academic and Vocational English courses, common English courses are given by the instructors of the Foreign Languages Department. Our department including instructors who have an innovative vision, broad perspective, dynamic personalities, and give importance to knowledge possesses student-centered education and work hard to give the students a highly skillful level of English to meet the requirements of their university education and expectations of the modern world. Additionally, our department gives utmost attention to teaching English with its physical infrastructure and technical equipment.

Mission and Vision

As the Foreign Languages Department of Samsun University, our vision is to be a prestigious and respectable educational institution among the international foreign language teaching institutions throughout the world by attaining international quality standards in institutional and training practices. Our preparatory program will provide our students to give their personal contributions to their majors by broadening their horizons, building international relations, enriching their field of knowledge, and following up-to-date developments closely. Our vision is to provide qualified language learning for our students. At the same time,  To assist our students to gain academic and language skills required for their studies in their departments where the medium of instruction is partially/completely English.  To provide our students with the skill of communicating through the target language on the basis of social and vocational context.  To give the students the skill of being disciplined and individual throughout their learning process.  To encourage and stimulate the students to use technology during the language learning process.  Apart from integrating language skills, to bring up our students with the power of national and international rivalry, representing modern values and creativity.
